This might actually be my favourite Sonata Arctica album, actually.

Same here. I love this one, though I still don't get why so many people dislike it. Almost all songs I like a lot, A LOT, and the lyrics are great as well. If not my favorite SA album, definitely one of my favs.

My absolute favorite from SA, this is where the band(or Tony I must say) started to focus more on composition, rather than making guitar-keyboard solo dueling, that's why I like it.

It's definitely one that takes more time to get to know because the production is quite different for them - so that puts people off from the first line.
There's all kinds of stuff on here though, so when you've got used to it all it really is an amazing album... "White Pearl, Black Oceans" might be my favourite.

Do not understand how "Wrecking The Sphere" is a bonus track. It's a great song!

Without any doubt their best album... I wish they would go back to their older style

If they cut the forced crap such as "Misplaced" and "Ain't Your Fairytale", this would have been one of my top ten albums... ever? But the rest makes up for it big style.
WPBO is the best SA track to this date, and "The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Real Puppet" takes the cake as my personal favorite SA track. That's their only vaguely proggy song ever and is it good.

"Ain't Your Fairytale" is an awesome track!
I go through stages of hating it and loving it it was forced though. Tony was putting pressure on himself to write "Sonata Arctica songs" instead of just "songs", so most of the faster tracks on this album were penned when he hit the studio, set the metronome to one of these ridiculous speeds and tried to write a song around it.

Well if that is true, I wish he did that now...

Yeah, now he's forcing himself to write in a more simple way. Just damn, dude. Make up your mind already.

White Pearl, Black Oceans is absolutely one of my top 5 Sonata Arctica songs and always will be. They don't write like that anymore...

Never got into this album and hence this is the last album I've heard from them. Now I'm not 100% sure if the album is way worse than their previous stuff or if it just lead me to realizing that I didn't even like the band that much in the first place. Well, either way, AFAICR they used to do it better, and the only thing that is really good about this album is "White Pearl, Black Oceans", beside the front cover image.

That's awesome! After having discovered the first three albums, Reckoning Night was the first Sonata album I actually bought and it got me hooked on a vacation in Germany. I just preferred blasting this album in the car rather than doing anything else, good memories. Unia left a bad taste and I lost my interest in the band for a few years, but I am now rediscovering their music. Enjoying The Ninth Hour at the moment, and surprisingly looking forward to a new album!

Much overrated here, it's in a complete different league than the first 3 albums.
One exception is White Pearl, Black Oceans.
