Biography

The Munich-based Extreme-Metal-Band Saeculum Obscurum (est. 2007) returns after the release of their debut album “Into the Depths of Oblivion” (Thunderblast Records/ Twilight Distribution, January 2011) with their second creation “Apotheosis”. The musical concept, rooted in Avantgarde Black Metal and infused with atmospheric and doom-laden sections, illustrates the thematic idea of apotheosis, which is described in all its atrocity in accordance with the biblical rhetoric and enacted by the band in an Acheronian spectacle.

“Apotheosis” was recorded in July and September 2012 at The Source Studios by Michael Zech (Secrets of the Moon, Negura Bunget, Odem Arcarum, Ascension) and mixed and mastered in October 2012 at Woodshed Studio by Victor Santura (Obscura, Triptykon, Secrets of the Moon, Dark Fortress). Furthermore, several guest musicians, like Ar (Secrets of the Moon), Daniel Droste (Ahab) and Eklatanz (Heretoir) among others, have collaboratively added to the album.

Through their theatrical presentation, using black light and fluorescent paint, the band members have distinguished themselves from the broad masses and have been able to prove their skill in shows with international acts such as Atheist, Exhumed, Necrophobic, Morgoth, Haemorrhage, Hellsaw, Master, Disbelief, Zombie Inc., Fleshless, Necrotic Flesh and many more.
