After many attempts both parties have finally come together and Vader have found a new home at Nuclear Blast! This Summer Vader will release their new album Necropolis, which will not only be their debut for Nuclear Blast, but also another chapter in the history of the band with a totally renewed line up! Bloodstock Open Air - Blind Guardian & Cradle Of Filth To Co-Headline

Posted on the Bloodstock website:

"The Bloodstock team are delighted to announce that both Blind Guardian and Cradle Of Filth have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2009. The pair will co-headline one day of the festival and the event will mark the ONLY UK shows of 2009 for both bands!

Following Blind Guardian's unfortunate cancellation in 2007, the Bloodstock Open Air team have responded to constant demand from the festival's core fans and brought the band back to Bloodstock at the earliest possible opportunity.

Neither Cradle Of Filth nor Blind Guardian will need any introduction to metal fans. Both are leaders in their genres, and both have built long and successful careers through hard work, dedication, a refusal to compromise and, of course, some very fine metal music along the way.

Cradle Of Filth; influenced by the Scandinavian black metal scene of the early '90s, they soon developed their own unique take on its frenetic sound, delivering a gothic and decidedly English take on the genre which broke into the mainstream consciousness with the release of the landmark Dusk And Her Embrace album in 1996. Since then, the band has steadily expanded their base without diluting either their sound, their spectacular stage shows or the controversial themes which their music so vividly brings to life.

When it comes to power metal, few bands have proved as influential or inventive as Blind Guardian. Starting life in Germany in 1984, the band issued their debut album Battalions Of Fear in 1988, following it up with Follow The Blind in '89. It was with their third opus, however, 1990's Tales From The Twilight World that they began to move in a more epic direction which later culminated in the classics Nightfall In Middle Earth (1998) and A Night At The Opera (2002).

Blind Guardian mainman Hansi Kürsch sent the following message:
"It's almost seven years since we played Bloodstock for the first time. Still we have never forgotten our first appearance in front of a fantastic British audience. Easy to imagine how thrilled we are by the chance to play there for a second time. I expect nothing but some outraging bards singing our songs with us and a band in perfect shape - take that for granted."

Cradle sent the following message:
"Cradle Of Filth, metal forged from the hot friction of wanking nuns, are very much looking forward to headlining the Bloodstock heavy metal festival this summer, especially knowing and loving most of the other bands playing on the bill over the three day weekend. But obviously not in a gay way. Carcass, Kreator, Moonspell, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Apocalyptica, Satyricon, Enslaved, Saxon, Gwar, Candlemass, Turisas... this line-up alone places this up-and-coming British festival right up there with its sometimes-a-pain-in-the-arse-hard-to-reach European rivals. So hail to England! Hail to Bloodstock! This is a proper metal festival for proper festive metallers. No shoddy haircut screamo pap allowed! F.O.A.D.!" (Insane screaming continues and then fades to black...)

God Seed - Former Gorgoroth Members Choose New Name

Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King ov Hell have chosen the new banner of God Seed to represent their art.

Posted on the band's newly created myspace page:

"God Seed was chosen for many reasons; it represents the will to grow, the god within man and nature, and the will to reach one's highest potential. God Seed is also the title of a track from the last album released under the "Gorgoroth" banner and in that respect it symbolizes what is brought from the past into a new beginning and a new future.

The album which has been in the works as a "Gorgoroth" album will now be released as the first God Seed album and should be in-stores in late 2009.

King comments: "The past 18 months has been a struggle on many levels. Therefore I'm very excited about God Seed - even on a personal level. Hopefully this will lead to growth to me personally and for the band as a whole. It's time to use my energy on something that wants to live, rather than to use my energy on something that wants to die and be part of my past!!!"

More details on the upcoming album - line-up etc will be announced shortly."

Gorgoroth - Infernus Wins Trademark Case

The ongoing battle Infernus has been pursuing against Gaahl & King Ov Hell regarding trademark rights of the name "Gorgoroth" appear to have come to an end. A message posted on Infernus' myspace website reads as follows:

"Oslo City District Court has today delivered a verdict on the main question in the Gorgoroth trademark case, which took place at the end of January 2009. The court has decided that King ov Hell's trademark registration # 243365 of the band name Gorgoroth is NOT valid and shall therefore be deleted. The court states that King ov Hell and Gaahl excluded themselves from the band Gorgoroth when they tried to fire Infernus in October 2007. The court further states that Infernus cannot be excluded from Gorgoroth, unless he himself decides to quit. Infernus is very pleased, but not surprised, by this verdict. The remaining issues concerning financial matters and such are yet to be decided upon."

The Infernus Gorgoroth line-up is:

Infernus - guitar, bass, drums, vocals
Pest - vocals
Tormentor - guitar
Frank Watkins - bass
Tomas Asklund - drums

Mithras - Rayner Coss To Depart

The end of an era, Rayner Coss departs Mithras

"I have some sad news for all our Mithras fans; the ZT Xmas bash on the 14th of December will be my last show with Mithras as I am leaving the band. I realise this may come as somewhat sudden news, but I have found myself increasingly unable to commit as much time to Mithras as a) I could like and b) it really requires of me. The result is that I'm holding the band back and putting increasing pressure on Leon and his own busy lifestyle, which has never been something I wanted to do as a band member or as a friend. I find myself with increasing commitments and responsibilities in my life which at this point in time could do with my full attention. This isn't to say I'm just going to disappear into the void, I'm still a massive fan of the band and will support it in all its pursuits and I'll still be around on the board and myspace. I have had a fantastic time writing, recording and rehearsing all the albums and music that has been written so far, it's been a huge part of my life that I have really enjoyed and am very proud of all we've accomplished.
I urge everyone to get down to London and see Mithras on the 14th of December, it may be the last chance and is looking to be a great gig all round.
I would just like to thank all the fans and bands and 'zines that have supported Mithras thus far, its been an honour."

Black Swan Festival - Cancelled

The Black Swan Festival that was set to take place for its first year at the Bath Racecource, and was due to see the likes of Mayhem and Lordi, has been cancelled:

"It has come as another massive blow to us, we have had to cancel Black Swan festival due to one of our major financial backers pulling out for personal reasons, which I cannot disclose.

This was unexpected to say the least and at this late date it is far to late to amend, or pull any other stops.

This is the not the first bump in the road we have had, infact it has been a total nightmare to try and keep this festival together, with one problem after another, this one has finally knocked us down and we are not getting back up from it. If you have been with us from the start then you will already know this.

I'm sorry to disappoint you all. We are gutted to say the least, it could have been a great day."

Also adding:

"I can and will tell you that there will be no Black Swan Festival next year, or any other year for that matter, as finacially, pysically and mentally, this has drained us, and as I said with out our backer we can no longer proceed with this project."

For the people who purchased tickets, for refunds go to the ticketing agent where it was purchased.

The Black Swan team are all once again very sorry for the people who were going to attend.

Mithras - Drummer Rejoins, Now Available For Live Shows

English brutal death titans Mithras have left the following message:

"Following the recent search to fill the long vacant live drummer spot, Mithras have now chosen their man. Previous live drummer / guitarist Ben White (Of Orbeth) departed the band back in 2003 and through a chance meeting which led to an explosive audition, has returned to the fold and his old drum seat. To their relief, this puts the UK's revered extreme metal protagonists back on the circuit for live performances, something they have missed hugely and are keen to return to without delay.

Rayner Coss (oratory/bass) says of Ben's return: "It's great to have Ben, one of our former members back in the band; he knows the material fantastically and is perfect for the role. We auditioned him and he nailed 11 songs taken from all our albums right off the bat, so we're really excited and looking forward to getting on stage for some shows asap!"

Of Ben's rejoining the band, Leon Macey (guitars) reveals that he "got in touch with Ben almost out of the blue during the drum auditions period to gather some material for our upcoming release, but one thing led to another and now we're slaying the tracks in the rehearsal room!"

And the man in question, Ben White (drums), adds: "Fate it seems has dealt a good card for us all! It was really cool when Mithras got back in touch again and as we have all evolved as musicians it seems to work better than ever now. It's good to be back!"

Mithras would like to thank all the drummers who applied for the position and sent in audio and videos. Best of luck with your future projects.

With this line-up Mithras are now ready to perform live shows and are available for bookings.

---

Rough videos from a recent rehearsal are now online on the Mithras YouTube site, including a performance of the title track from the latest Mithras album 'Behind The Shadows Lie Madness', check them out!"

Majesty - Split, New Band Launched

As posted on the Majesty myspace page:

"A new era is beginning!

Here is an official statement from Tarek "MS" Maghary: "First of all I want to tell all fans, partners and friends, that Majesty no longer exists. There was no basis anymore for me and the previous nembers of Majesty to continue our creative work.
I had a feeling for quite a while now that the time has come to restart with a new band to point out that Heavy Metal can never be stopped and that a new force will bring the whole world that mighty message. In a dream I recently had, only one name for that power came to my mind: Metalforce
This new band will exactly do what also was the essence of Majesty, but even bigger and more powerful. The first gig on the MCF 08 already filled me up with pride as I looked into the eyes of tenthousands of fans who encouraged us in our decision.
We will very soon release a new album and tour all over the world.
Finally I want to tell you one important thing: All the things we did and things we will do are done first and foremost for all our fans out there who like we give all their blood and sweat for the only way to live: Heavy Metal!
With Metalforce a new era is beginning and I know from the bottom of my heart, that all our fans will accompany us on that great mission.""

Quo Vadis - The End Of An Era

Vocalist Stéphane Paré, drummer Yanic Bercier and bassist Dominic "Forest" Lapointe have announced their departure from Quo Vadis.

''As of today, July 13th, we are officially leaving the band for various reasons. As for the shows that are already booked, we are still going to perform as agreed, on a professional basis.

This decision is the hardest for drummer Yanic Bercier as he has been in the band since day one, 15 years ago. As for vocalist Stéphane Paré, he was in the band for more than 5 1/2 years.
