Obscura - North American Tour With Abysmal Dawn

Obscura has announced their first ever North American headline tour in support of their latest album Omnivium. The tour will start Nov. 4 in Wilmington, Delaware and run through Dec. 7 with support from label-mates Abysmal Dawn, Last Chance To Reason (Nov. 4 -25) and Enfold Darkness (Nov. 28 - Dec. 7).

Obscura - Middle East / South East Asia Tour Dates

German progressive death metallers Obscura will do a handful of live shows in the Middle East / South East Asia in a couple of weeks.

The band will tour in support of their latest album Omnivium and will be performing first time ever in Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Bass player Linus Klausenitzer will be joining the band on tour to replace Jeroen Paul Thesseling, who left the band in July.

Obscura - Bassist Leaves The Band

Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Pestilence, ex-Mayan) has left German progressive death metallers Obscura.

In a statement released to Blabbermouth, Thesseling explained: "Due to repetitive conflicting schedules with job related obligations I have decided to depart Obscura. Beside the limited availability that kept me away from touring during the last months, I feel like taking new directions in my musical development.

Looking back, the cooperation with Obscura has been positive and successful. However, it's time to move on and find new challenges and opportunities for my musical career.

I would like to thank all the fans who supported us and wish Obscura all the best with their future work."

Obscura - Japanese Bonus Song Online

"Concerto", a new track from German technical death metallers Obscura, has been made available for streaming over at Facebook (you'll have to "like" the band to access the stream).

"Concerto" is a cover track from Marty Friedman and Jason Becker's Cacophony Speed Metal Symphony album.

"Concerto" was included as the Japanese bonus track and on the iTunes digital deluxe album of the band's latest album, entitled Omnivium, which was released on March 29th in North America and early April in Europe through Relapse Records. More album details were previously reported over here.

Children Of Bodom - N. American Tour W/ Devin Townsend, Septicflesh, Obscura

Children Of Bodom has announced a North American headlining tour in support of their new album Relentless Reckless Forever. Support on the Children Of Bodom tour will come from Devin Townsend with openers Obscura and Septicflesh rotating positions each night.

Brought to you by Guitar World and Revolver, the North American leg of Children Of Bodom's Ugly World Tour will kick off in Los Angeles on June 24 and run through July 24 in Montreal where COB will perform alongside Kiss, Motörhead and more as part of the Heavy MTL hard rock festival.

Obscura - European Tour Dates, Another New Song Online

"Vortex Omnivium", a brand-new track from German technical death metallers Obscura, has been made available for streaming, exclusively at Metal Injection.

Another new song, called "Septuagint", can still be streamed at this location.

"Vortex Omnivium" and "Septuagint" come off the band's upcoming new album Omnivium, which will be released on March 29th in North America and early April in Europe through Relapse Records.

Additionally, Obscura has announced a four-week European headlining tour in support of the new album.

Support will come from Hate Eternal, Beneath The Massacre, and Defiled. The tour kicks off in late April and follows Obscura's first hometown show in four years on March 6th in Landshut, Germany.

Obscura - Reveal New Album Cover Art

Omnivium, the upcoming album of technical death metallers Obscura will be released on March 29th through Relapse Records. Cover artwork can be found below, while the complete tracklist and more details are available here.

According to a press release, Omnivium finds the band pushing the progressive edges of the genre's sounds to new heights while delivering the technical metal that has become their calling card. The band gracefully blends brutality and beauty with complex, commanding songs played at stunningly virtuosic levels. Ominivum very clearly raises the bar for extreme, technical metal and is Obscura's finest moment to date. Get excited!

Neurotic Deathfest - Hate Eternal, Obscura And More Confirmed

On April 29th & April 30th, 2011 the leading death metal festival of Europe will once again come to the 013 venue in Tilburg, Netherlands. The Neurotic Deathfest organization earlier confirmed heavywheight acts such as Autopsy, At The Gates, Exhumed, Misery Index and Decapitated. This time there are seven more names, including exclusive performances by Hate Eternal, Obscura, Magrudergrind and Beheaded.

Hate Eternal, the American hyper-death metal formation of Erik Rutan will be present again on the Neurotic Deathfest, ever since their crushing performance on the festival in 2008. The German technical death metal ensemble Obscura, who were seen as one of the best newcomers on Neurotic Deathfest 2009 will return in 2011 as well. Other bands to be confirmed are: Beheaded from Malta, who will perform a special 20th anniversary set, slam-death machine Vulvectomy from Italy, the grind hit of the moment Magrudergrind from the US, the Canadian deathsters of Beneath The Massacre and the Dutch band Antropomorphia. This last act might be unknown to many younger fans, but this band received quite some praise in the nineties with their album Necromantic Love Songs and are recently reformed.

There are a total of 26 acts confirmed. This means that there are yet 16 acts to be announced to get to the grand total of 42 performing bands. An overview of bands confirmed to this date can be found here.
