Skyforger - New Video Online
Latvian leading metal band Skyforger, shared official music video for the song ''Lec, eglīte (Jump, Fir Tree)", featuring the Latvian folk group Skandinieki. Skyforger's only concert in Latvia this year will be held in September 10, 2022 at Mežaparks Great Stage.
The band comments: ''Jump, the fir tree is an ancient suit wedding tribute song, whose roots in various variations have been fixed in songs and oral folklore many centuries ago. It was sung on the morning of weaning - michosa, in honor of the wedding, when the daughter went to her husband. The Christmas tree is also an ancient Latvian wedding folk music instrument, made from the top of a tree decorated with metals and ribbons. Also a trident or triangle is a version of this honor metal instrument. In the Latvian understanding of the world, the fir is an element of eternal life, as well as a border tree between the world, this sun and the other sun. At a wedding, a daughter dies as a daughter and reborn as a wife. Same way a guy dies and reborn as a husband. The fir tree had a certain place in the wedding - the fir tree was pinned at the barn door of the bride (bride) or at the end of the table where the bride sat. Later, while singing the singing songs, the lead is used to attract attention and accentuate the rhythm. At the beginning of a new way of life, every stingray will hit on the spruce edges, and the bad will not enter this world."
Kristīne Neikena the director of the clip, tells: “We’ve known the band Skyforger for a long time and we’re pleased to make a video for the new song ‘Jump the Tree’. One of the main motives of the clip's message was to show strong husbands and productive wives in action to Latvians in a characteristic, authentic environment that should serve as a reminder to everyone that only with a strong spine and the ability to take responsibility can we bear to see the values, traditions and land of the Latvian people. The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is a great site to get this message across. The filming process lasted three days and one night. We are grateful to everyone who participated in the creation of the project."
