Iapetus - From Now On Part Of Willowtip Records
Long Island (NY) progressive death metal duo, Iapetus, has signed new deal to Willowtip Records. The new album, the successor to 2019's The Body Cosmic, is currently in the making. More info in due time.
Statement from the band: "We are honored, humbled, and thrilled to announce our partnership with Willowtip Records - to join their incomparable roster, both past and present, and to stand alongside so many incredible bands that we have long admired both as fans and peers. Willowtip is and has always been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of metal - to championing the off-beat and the unfamiliar - and so we feel resolutely at home beneath their legendary, ever-innovative banner. This partnership is, for us - and in so many ways - a perfect fit. We could not be more excited for the endeavors ahead.
"Writing for our next album has been ongoing for years, and is still well underway - while it's still too far-off for specific details, we can promise that it will be our darkest record yet - an 80+ minute conceptual rumination on hopelessness, mortality, and meaning in an uncaring cosmos. I'm not sure "dark" is what anybody wants from a band that thrives on tons of melody... I guess we'll see.

Not sure if I really want an album exceeding 80 minutes. Their debut at 76 was so-so at best even though the sounds were great. Even The Body Cosmic could've dropped like 5 minutes. If they're making an 80+ minute album, there's gonna need to be a lot of new stuff going on. Maybe some more depth in parts.
