I remember Tone Of Things To Come being fucking awesome. Definitely expecting something good.

I think they initially had other cover, which was really cool. This one is seriously shitty.

Listened to it a couple of times yesterday. Not bad at all and in fact, it is a very good damn record but I had higher expectations. On par with their debut EP IMO.

Listened to it this morning and I'm very pleased. Definitely on par with Tone Of Things To Come. This band has become an excellent example of how to keep modern death-doom sounding fresh yet surprisingly accessible.

This album surely gets boring at moments. Interzone IV V and VI are clear examples of that. Totally pointless songs.

Nothing superfluous about the tracks on this. I find it hard not to be constantly intrigued and interested as each track appears to explore a different textural soundscape, whilst all constantly being linked in tone (i.e. really fucking dark and ominous). VI is particularly great. Sounds very much like one of Sunn O)))'s experiments and with an Attila-alike to boot. Don't even know what I would call this music. Deconstructed, Postmodern death / doom / black, or something.

That would be consistent with their other stuff then as far as I know. Still better than 99% of planned stuff from other bands.

Been getting heavy into this band in the past few weeks, as they're set to play Roadburn 2016. To say my mind's been blown would be a huge understatement. Along with Portal, Tribulation, and maybe just a small handful of others, these guys are probably one of the most important bands for death metal at the moment. I mean yeah, it's mostly death metal, but BM, doom, drone, and jazz all dance and weave together here and it's just stunning. As Joe said, it's really fascinating how each track sounds nothing like the others and has its own approach, while each nonetheless sticks to some kind of core motif of tone. It feels strangely paradoxical, but I'll be damned if it isn't just delicious as fuck. Easy AOTY contender from an extremely talented group of musicians.

And guys, if that lead guitar in Soul Ruiner isn't some of the most beautiful and inspired playing I've heard all year, I really don't know what is.

Album of the year for me. I don't see it being beaten any time soon either.

I honestly don't even find it that weird. It runs too smoothly into all the different movements I don't understand how it could be difficult to digest. Maybe that says more about me than it does about the average listener...?
