Seeing as this is a heavy metal site all of you probably like heavy metal. I however would be interested in what your guys favorite non-metal albums are. I'd ask that you limit yourself to 1 album per band.
mine would be:
1.Led Zeppelin IV
2.Jethro Tull - Aqualung
3.Queen - Sheer Heart Attack
4.Zephyr - Zephyr
5.Dire Straits - Dire Straits
6.Elf - Elf
7.Rush - 2112
8.CCR - Green River
9.The Jimmy Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
10.The Who - Who's next

My top ten probably doesn't include any metal anyway, apart from Weighing Souls With Sand. It's impossible to make any definite ranking and I could probably swap out most depending on mood, but at least these would feature:

Tori Amos - Boys for Pele (/any of the first four)
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (/The Dreaming/Aerial)
Portishead - Dummy (/Third)
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (/Laughing Stock)

Other albums I could pick from at least the following 4-5-star albums:

The Gathering - Souvenirs
Low - I Could Live in Hope
PJ Harvey - Bring You My Love (/Let England Shake)
Love - Forever Changes
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Let Love In (/Push the Sky Away or something)
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - I See a Darkness
Red House Painters - Ocean Beach
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Slowdive - Pygmalion
Labradford - Mi media naranja
Susanne Sundfør - The Silicone Veil (/The Brothel)
Swans - Swans Are Dead
David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure
Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express
Ulver - Shadows of the Sun
The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle
Eleanoora Rosenholm - Hyväile minua pimeä tähti
Carly Rae Jepson - Emotion
Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
The Knife - Silent Shout
Mew - Frengers
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Moonface - Julia With Blue Jeans On
PMMP - Leskiäidin tyttäret
Radiohead - Kid A
Regina Spektor - Soviet Kitsch
Torres - Torres
Townes Van Zandt - Townes Van Zandt (/Our Mother the Mountain)
Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements
Bark Psychosis - Hex
Hum - Downward is Heavenward

It's also missing some favorites, like Simon & Garfunkle, who just can't seem to write brilliant albums despite their best songs being stellar, and others that I probably like better than a few on the list right now but I just haven't listened to enough (being too recent, or newly-discovered by me). And this is strictly popualr music; I kept so-called classical and video game scores out of it.

Oh yeah, or that. It's pretty much neck-to-neck with TEE in my books.

Yeah I also had a hard time choosing between the two. Nice to see someone else included Trans Europe Express.

Do you know Rome? Excellent neofolk/martial industrial band in a similar vein. I rate them higher myself, although that DiJ album is good too.

non metal... includes two listed here on MS that aren't metal. limited to one album per. rather than "Top 10" is more of a "desert island" thing. a bit of variety, but really pretty chill with only The Vandals for a burst of energy.

The Cure - Disintegration
Ulver - Perdition City
Joy Division - Still
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue
The Vandals - Live Fast Diarrhea
Wall of Voodoo - Call Of The West
40 Watt Sun - Wider Than The Sky
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Frank Sinatra - The Very Good Years

decent number of near-similarities. Cure, Joy Division... DM Violator might make my top 25, loved that Police album as well growing up.

But as for The Eagles, I'm with The Dude on them. Ugh.

I could have Disintegration and The Queen is Dead too. What exactly is Still? Is it some posthumous collection or what? (I could google I guess, but I'm lazy.)

I didn't choose any jazz records, because I'm not confident in my judgement. I've listened to a lot of classics, but quite superficially, so mostly I am drawn to a particular sound without a good grasp of the actual composition. But from Miles I'd pick In a Silent Way. That's such an interesting and atmospheric album. Kind of Blue is of course nice too.

Never heard of Wall of Voodoo, gotta check it out!

Fuck yes, so underrated. Or unknown, rather (I think everyone who knows it thinks it's great). Given how popular something like The Smashing Pumpkins are, and how there's a shoegaze/post-rock boom right now, you'd think they'd have been discovered by more people.

In no particular order:

Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
The Strokes - Is This It
Death Grips - Exmilitary
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Elliott Smith - Either/Or
Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree
Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyze
Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent

There's probably some I'm forgetting but those are the ones that had the biggest impact on me and that really remind me of specific times in my life. I listen to a lot more rap/hip-hop than this but I rarely find an entire rap album that I like from start to finish. That Death Grips album isn't even necessarily perfect for me but it really changed my entire perception of what rap is.

Goes without saying that I have very non-metal tastes outside of metal.

I think Still was done after the fact. Collection of 20 awesome songs. Might be cheating to do a comp rather than actual album.... was running on little sleep and didn't care.

Jazz - not huge into it at all, just had a Thelonious Monk album (Straight, No Chaser), that from Miles and then off to jazz fusion stuff like Al Di Meola. That album really resonates with me, particularly Blue In Green.

Wall of Voodoo were a new wave, early MTV "one hit wonder", famous for Mexican Radio. I picked up the album for like $7 and just really like it. Love the title track.

Not in any particular order.

Shellac - 1000 Hurts
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
They Might Be Giants - Flood
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
The Cure - Wish
Nirvana - In Utero
A Perfect Circle - 13th Step
Rob Gardner ft. - Lamb of God
Heylasfas - Destiny: A Tale of Unicorn Wings

...And the original cast recording of Wicked.

Also maybe Downward Spiral, not sure if that counts as a metal album or not. If not, I'd probably bump off Flood just because I haven't actually heard that album in full.
