Here is the new thread to one of the oldest thrash metal bands around. (They have been around since 1980.) They are indeed one of my all-time favorite bands. In this thread, you can post about what your favorite album/song is, what new things are going on in the band, etc. My favorite songs are 'Elimination', 'Hello From The Gutter', and 'In Union We Stand'.

Im going to see Overkill and Anthrax in a couple weeks

Oh, your a lucky fuck. I'd kill to see either of those bands live. I watched the Wrecking Everything DVD, and Overkill looked like they really put on a hell of a show. Speaking of "Necroshine", that was a major standout for me on that W.E. DVD, with the strobe lights during the introduction.

I'd probably just throw up everywhere if I heard that song live..or that band

man, overkill was kinda dissapointing, anthrax was killer though. and hallows eve was there, and they killed overkill

Hallows Eve? Wow, I didn't know they were back together (hahahaha just checked and see they released an album last year which I have on my hdd 5.1 surround set )
Hopefully they played all the cool old tunes?

I'm so glad I'm able to see them, haven't seen them both yet.

They'll play on the 6th of February @ "De Pull" in Uden, which is like, very close to the place I live!

They're one of the best live bands I've seen. They were much faster live than I expected, and very mosh-friendly.

Overkill are an amazing band, one of my faves! I have never seen them live though, which sucks. They've never ever played near me.

My fave album by them is "Under The Influence" but really, most of their albums are awesome. And even the more average albums have some great tracks on them! I hope I can get to see them live soon.

Any "Necroshine" fans here? No not the album, the song.

Yeah, that song is awesome! Gotta love it.

I guess my favourite Overkill albums are Years of Decay, Horrorscope and From the Underground and Below. Although I have to admit that I haven't heard all their albums...

Their new album is really good. It completely destroys the last one, which isn't hard lol, but I'm willing to assume it's their best release in a long time. There isn't one slow song on the whole album

I'll probably buy it when it comes out.

I dunno why "Immortalis" is getting such a bad rap....I really love it! "Ironbound" is more like their 80's stuff, and it is awesome, but "Immortalis" is great too, in it's own way.

As for the song "Necroshine", it is great, definitely one of Kill's classic songs! The album overall though is one of their weakest, but there's some really good songs on it.

My fave song on "Immortalis" is "Devils In The Mist".

Overally, I think it's a very strong album. Certainly better than "Necroshine" and "ReliXIV".

You know, I don't even really like Lamb Of God that much, and when I heard Randy was going to be singing on that song, I wasn't happy!

But it works really well, Randy's voice suits the song, and meshes with Bobby's very well. I also absolutely love the solo in that song, so its definitely one of the highlights of the album for me.

Ahh, fucking OVERKILL!!!!! With the most powerful vocalist in thrash, and one of metals most audible bassists Horrendously underrated they are, seeing as they were the first thrash band,

they weren't the first thrash band, Venom was. that would be like saying Sabbath and Priest are tied for being the first metal band ever, because Priest formed in 1969, when in reality they were just a blues band with none of the guys you and me know about. i can almost guarantee Overkill didn't play thrash metal back in 1980.

still, i don't give a shit about them having an influence or not, their old stuff is good, but IRONBOUND is the most hard-hitting, over the top thrash album i've ever heard. it's actually tied in my mind with Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Shovel Headed Kill Machine and Rust in Peace as my favorite thrash albums

Dear god, have you ever heard another Thrash Metal band, to come here with this kind of ridiculous statement?
I mean, "most powerful vocalist in Thrash"? What the fuck?
Listen to Kreator, Flames, Hellish Crossfire, Hypnosia, Massacra, Minotaur, early Slayer, etc...
Then come and tell us Overkill's vocals don't sound weak in comparison.

They shake your hand and they smile and they buy you a drink
They say we'll be your friends we'll stick with you till the end
But everybody's only looking out for themselves
And you say who can you trust I'll tell you nobody

Since when are Overkill the first thrash band?
They switched from being a cover band to a thrash band after Metallica had already released two demos. And according to some people Venom played thrash on their first two. Which are even older.

As for Bobby being a powerful vocalist that's the most laughable thing I ever heard. If there is one thrash vocalist who does not sing powerfully it is Bobby.
Hell his weak vocals are what characterized their first two albums, which are their best by miles and miles.

I think I must agree with Void Eater, Blitz really has a powerfull voice IMO, I saw theme live last year and they kick some serious ass live!
Immortalis is quite a weak album, they seemed to have lost a lot of intensity and power on that album, I was really afraid they would become a lot less agressive or there were some mayor struggles in the band which drove away there attention from the music. Ironbound is a killer album though with a lot of agression.

This band really sucks! I hated them back in the 80's when thrash was really happening and I hate them today when they are just a sorry relic of a time that has passed them by and where they didn't make it in the first time! So .. Overkill go suck my d**k!

I hope the fans of Overkill don't find my post offensive?
