India can be good im football, so many people , but no tradition and interest, but in next 15 years I dont see progress. I have not seen field hockey a long time, mabye in Olympics if or TV will broadcast it
Launching ISL was a catastrophic failure. In terms of world ranking, India slipped to 121st from 102nd position. India still getting railed by likes of Oman at FIFA WC qualifiers. In Hockey, India grabbed bronze in last Olympics.

The only sport India inherited from British after kicking out in 1947 was Cricket. It was never India's game. Hockey precisely was more closer to roots of Indian people.
I think cricket is so popular by numbers because in Indina and Pakistian lives a lot of people , where else they play it. England, SA and Australia in normal good level, rest is atomur and enusiats
