Prior to that, in May, Mastodon will also tour in the U.S. with Primus showcasing their latest record, Emperor Of Sand. The 60th annual Grammy Awards were held last night at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the metal category, Mastodon took home the Grammy for "Best Metal Performance"! They won with "Sultan's Curse" from their latest album, Emperor Of Sand. The other nominees were August Burns Red, Body Count, Code Orange, and Meshuggah.

Three of the songs were recorded with producer Nick Raskulinecz during sessions for 2014 album Once More 'Round The Sun, while the fourth, "Toe To Toes", was recorded with Brendan O'Brien while the band worked on the most recent album, Emperor Of Sand. When Mastodon revealed they were working on a new album, which turned out to be Emperor Of Sand, they said they were working on a double album. In fact, guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds said he had written one album himself, titled Cold Dark Place. That album is now being released by Mastodon and Hinds recently shared its cover art. So, it all points to it being a companion piece to Emperor Of Sand.
