Fear Factory - Planning To Release New Song Feat. New Vocalist

It's been nearly fifteen months since Fear Factory parted ways with their singer for over 30 years Burton C. Bell, and only six months since the release of their latest album Aggression Continuum. While the band has yet to reveal the identity of Bell's replacement, guitarist Dino Cazares revealed in a recent interview with 'This Day In Metal' that the band will release a new track right before they hit the road early next year with Static-X.

When asked if Fear Factory had anything in the works before the tour with Static-X, Cazares said: "Yes. We plan on showcasing him with a new song. I really want people to hear it and judge it by when they hear it. Because if I announce who it is right now, then it's gonna be, like, everybody is gonna give their opinion before they even hear anything. So I'd rather people give their opinion of when they hear it than before they hear it."

Dino also confirmed that the yet-to-be-revealed new singer for Fear Factory is going to be stylistically similar to Bell's output on the band's past records. He simply said, "Oh, yeah. It's not gonna change."

I already got an opinion, I don't think it will be just as good.
It will be (for me) like Nirvana without Kurt Cobain, Rhapsody (of Fire) without Fabio Leone, Gloryhammer withouth Thomas Winkler/Angus McFife, Cryptopsy without Dan Greening/Lord Worm.

He doesn't want people to have an opinion yet, but has stated that he's clearly trying to get someone to perfectly replicate Burton. Dino has already shot himself in the foot with that last statement. Unless he's recruited Burton's twin brother, he's already made it a hard time for who it's going to be.

Dino should just take the remaining Fear Factory members, restart Divine Heresy with them, and find a singer that fits that band

It would be way funnier if Dino trolled the internet by making the craziest single possible with Blaze Bayley and then introducing the new singer after the outrage.

I think Blaze is fine, same goes with FF. He just happens to be the first name that comes to mind when talking about infamous replacement vocalists, I bet some people still expect him to show up whenever a random band decides to kick their singer. I remember hearing a rumor like this when Tarja was kicked from Nightwish.

I don't get why people are so attached to Bell. He used to be a decent vocalist (well... his cleans never appealed to me), but in the last decade or so his performances on stage were lukewarm at best and pathetic at worse. The only reason he doesn't sound crap in studio stuff is because of the whole editing thing in pre-production. Aggression Continuum, although it featured Bell's vocals, was musically speaking a good album.

All this means is enjoy the fuck out of the latest FF release because it's the last of its kind. Maybe I'm alone but I could never enjoy listening to Sepultura after Max left, Black Sabbath after Ozzie left or Van Halen after Roth left. The only exception might be AC/DC but that's because Brian Johnson wasn't trying to be Bon Scott even if that's what the rest of the band thought they were getting when he auditioned. Needless to say, I'm not expecting much from FF going forward.

he was not just performing, he was also a main songwriter, and the only constant member in the band
Aggression Continuum was a finished album already before the latest lawsuit and before Dino decided to rerecord the instruments

I've done a bit of research on your claim that Bell was a 'main songwriter'. By songwriter I understand that he wrote/composed songs. On the first and second album, Bell had no songwriting credit. He only wrote all or most of the lyrics. On Obsolete, he is credited as a songwriter on 3 bonus tracks released a year later in a digipak edition, but those 3 songs were a collective effort. Other than that, he wrote all or most lyrics.

Digimortal is the only album in FF's discography that has no individual credit. Instead, the entire band is credited. Archetype and Transgression have 0 songwriting credit from Bell. Herrera and Wolbers wrote all the music on these 2, Bell all or most of the lyrics.

On Mechanize Bell wrote the lyrics again, although he gets a 'writer' credit which is a little bit ambiguous. One can most likely assume that Cazares wrote most if not all the music on this one as well. The Industrialist credits Bell with the lyrics again and Cazares/Fulber with writing the songs. Genexus and the last album all have their songs written by Cazares and the lyrics by Bell.

I don't really see how Bell was a main songwriter when it is clear that as a songwriter, he had a negligible contribution. Even on the albums where no specific credit is given such as Digimortal, it is safe to assume that he was not a songwriter there either. Generally speaking the guitarists of the band handled that, either Cazares, Wolbers or Herrera. I don't consider writing lyrics for songs good enough for someone to be labeled a 'songwriter'. You can have songs without lyrics in the first place. One might say that 'hey, he might've been involved in arranging sections of songs', which might be true, but again, that implies that he arranged what others wrote/composed. IMO, this is not enough to be considered a songwriter, much less a 'main songwriter'.
