Agalloch - Announce Exclusive Performance With Original Line-Up

The makers of Prophecy Fest are thrilled and proud to announce that US metal legends Agalloch have agreed to perform their much longed-for headlining performance, in the original line-up, exclusively in the Cave of Balve (September 7 to 9)..

Official statement as follows:

When Agalloch announced their split on May 13, 2016, it sent shock-waves through the metal scene around the globe. The American band from Portland, Oregon had released five full-length albums since their inception in 1995. During their exceptional career that led them to perform on stages worldwide, Agalloch had started out closest to the style of black metal, which remained a part of their sound through many transformations. Their genre has been located within folk and doom metal as well as post-rock, and post-metal, which could also mean all of the above at the same time. Yet despite all changes, Agalloch remained true to their recognisable sonic identity. As their disbanding has been felt as a severe loss, the more welcome is today's news of the original band members reuniting to perform selected shows. Their dedicated and large following will hardly be able to wait until Agalloch are returning to stage at Prophecy Fest in the ancient Cave of Balve this September - the perfect place for this occasion where nature, magic, and myth meet with thrilling music!

Fuck my life. Agalloch is my all time favorite band, but I never saw them live. Please please please let there be an extended tour after this.

Quite some exclusive shows at that festival. Impressive line-up.

Hell yeah! I did not think this would ever happen, due to how hostile the members were with each other post-split. I have never seen Agalloch live, but I did see Pillorian live twice and conversed briefly with Haughm both times. I really enjoyed meeting him and shaking his hand, but it can be humbling to recognize that he is actually about my height, which is not very tall. He has a great way of postulating himself in some of Agalloch's pictures as taller than he actually is.

This is wonderful news, and the lineup for this festival is stellar. Even moreso since it is features Agalloch's first set in their reunion.

While this is certainly fun news, I cannot for the life of me understand why a popular band from the US would reunite for live shows only in Germany.

Everything he doesn't like is metalcore. Britney Spears, Elton John, Michael Moore, and green beans are also metalcore, in case you guys didn't know.

It is in a cave after all

Great news though, I hope they stick together. I missed my one chance to see them at a festival because they clashed with Kreator or something

Im not only too happy from hearing about Agalloch's new shows, but also from the fact that they will participate to this event.
Overall this festival must be phenomenal, with bands selection matching the environment: A cave!!
Seriously considering to attend it and buy tickets, maybe the ideal event for MS annual meeting?

It's a pretty impressive line-up at the festival! I might genuinely look into the practicalities of going to it

I thankfully have seen Agalloch once before, but it was shortly after The Serpent & The Sphere came out, so the setlist was heavily dominated by that album - I'd be very up for seeing a set covering more of their discography

Well, none of their post-Agalloch projects were runaway successes, Pillorian could've become one but was cut short, so... makes sense they would give it another shot. But creatively they are probably not at the same place as before it all unfolded.

Yeah so can Emperor and Agalloch just get on with it and reunite?

Ihsahn doesn't need a band, he is a solo artist. Other members would be a burden for him. Unless they all get offered so much money that they'll yield to temptation.
