I gave the album a listen back when it came out, and this is one track that I really enjoyed. I don't remember the production being so lifeless, though. If it didn't sound so sterile, it would be a wonderful power metal anthem. The verse is arguably just as catchy or catchier than the chorus, and I always appreciate that about a song.

YouTube videos are never a good indication of production because of the compression algorithm. Always try to find the lossless version of a song/album and obviously a nice output device. Seems obvious but people will trash an albums sound listening on a $10 pair of skullcandy earbuds

I listened on pretty decent speakers and also re-listened on Spotify after YouTube. I still think the production is sterile, sort of boring and safe sounding. I honesty can't get enough of the songwriting though It's so catchy, perfectly written to be exactly what they needed it to be.

I agree with you. It’s kind of how I felt about the third album as well.
I enjoyed angus mcsix way more than this, sadly
