I don't know how many metal heads here know who "The Band" was, but it was one of the most influential and powerful acts in music during their heyday.

They started off as Bob Dylan's expertly picked live touring band. They started writing a lot of their own songs in their down time and became so famous that they were simply able to just keep their title as "The Band," and everyone knew who they were.

On 4/19/2012 Levon Helm, one of the main founders, singer, and overall one of the most solid drummers that rock music has ever seen, passed away. Being a huge fan with the work he has done with Bobby D as well as "The Band," I just wanted to post a little something here.

I adored The Band whilst growing up.

Levon Helm was a power-house of a musician. So broadly talented and seemingly always inspired.

He shall be missed.
