Is there anything more metal than arguing over album ratings?
Arguing over which album didn't get nominated to the MSAs
Msa are subjective, sometimes great bands are not nominated

Haters gonna hate. it's a great album.
loving the riffs in almost all songs and i feel this is the only band that does melodic death with serious doom and gloom vibes and i love that

I would ask if this is good but that is obviously a pretty loaded question depending on who answers. Instead I'll ask, is it different? I liked when they tried out a few different genres in parts of Winter's Gate but if this is just business as usual then I'll stick with the albums I have. The bit of Pale Morning Star I heard sounded too familiar.

So this well-played and produced but unoriginal and average melo death metal album, for you is perfect?! Really?!
Definitely NOT average, as for originality, I don't care much, nor does the band, as they say they have a style and always had it from the start so they simply do well what they do.

Definitely not. Same old Insomnium of 10s.

Alright thanks. I'm sure I wouldn't dislike it but I don't have much desire to pick another album of theirs unless they keep trying new things. They have the talent to expand but if they want to keep doing what they've always done then I'm good with going through the older albums again.

Feels like more of the same at first, and it sort of is, but I fooking love it...
A solid melo-death release, familiar sounds but with different arrangements. A definate candidate for top albums of 2019.

They have one album that's somewhat expansive in terms of arrangements and song structures, and your rating for it is 4. Just saying

Yes because it was barely different at all from what I remember and was a very auto-pilot the Insomnium album. I didn't care for it back then and haven't ever bothered going back because it was mostly white noise.
Feel free to point out examples to the contrary that I won't care about though.

All great songs apart for 'And Bells They Toll' which I dislike. Particular early favourites are 'The Offering' and 'Twilight Trails'.

I don't believe in melodeath fatigue. I take a warm shower every day and it soothes each time. Every single golden retriever I meet warms my heart. Just the same, every single big melodeath album pulls me into that dark swirling storm of emotional riffage. Haters gonna hate, but I'm always ready for more of the same.

Insomnium has always been that kind of band that I wish I could enjoy more. They are good, but I have never been so much into them. This album has that extra "spice" to get me inside their bandwagon.

Same here, except that I'm not getting "the spice" out of this one either.

Need a few more listens before I put a number to this album, but my first impressions are that the pace is turned down quite a bit, different melodic sense I would say. More depressive, if that is possible... Kind of expanding on the theme that was shown in the last part of Devoid of Caring. It kind of reminds med of Swallow the Sun a bit. I find this album to be very innovative for being Insomnium, but I doubt that I will love it...

Because it's not good enough, maybe?
At present, an average rating of 8.72 is required to rank at least in a bottom position of Metal Storm's top 200, thus this album will most probably never even come close to the top 200 albums of all time.
Rightfully, I'd say.

Yeah I was being sarcastic as most of Insomnium albums here are overrated. BTW an innocent question, why isn't Porcupine Tree's 8.8 albums among the top 200? Because they are not metal?

This many melodic riffs in one album, not very common.
every other riff makes you want to pick up the guitar and start playing

I find this very enjoyable. That might be because I rarely listen to melodic death and this is actually my first Insomnium album, so I am not experiencing any genre fatigue at this point. "And Bells They Toll" is pretty forgettable, but the rest of the album I really like. Some moments stuck with me from the first listen.

I like melod death as old mid 90's swedish sounds eucharist, gate sof ishtar, not big fan of omnium gatherum, this band is between and those clean vocal parts, awesome 2 videos in stollen Karelia made this much better, you're from Estonia you know what I mean

I have a musician in my country named Harris Jayaraj whose songs have a speciality. Start from any of his songs, you can easily jump to the next and to the next and to the next. You will never notice the difference. It's not that it's all bad; they are really catchy and melodic but all have the same tempo, same feel, almost same rythm and tune.
Insomnium songs for me is the same. Don't know whether it's good or bad but finally I find myself repeating spins. May be i am a fan
