Biography

Formed in Paris in late 1997, the group Kobal has seen a rapid (and brief) rise in the metal underground scene before splitter early 2000. Its five members were set as goals to "metal they wanted to hear" at a time when the leading bands on the international scene, Sepultura, Machine Head, Fear Factory, appeared to fall into repetition. Caught in the vise between thrash decline of the explosion and neo-metal, Kobal still able to be heard, particularly by the specialized press (Hard'N'Heavy will Massive Outcry demo of April 1999) and attract a core group of hardcore fans (in every sense). Sharing the stage with bands such as Black Bomb A, Pleymo, Enhancer, Boost, Madcraft, Stroll, The Old Dead Tree or COTT, the group will build on the job gradually. Yet it is a victim of internal tensions and artistic hesitation that the group would separate. This page is primarily a testimony to what was Kobal and, as I hope it is a way for a new generation of metal fans to discover our music.
